Learn about the Island’s past at the Con Dao Museum It’s hard to imagine that the island has such a haunting past. Learn how the island was occupied during different wars, used as a prison, and was at one point a ‘hell on earth'. Visit one of the three main island prisons There were once eleven prisons on the island, and today visitors can visit three for a glimpse of the past: Phu Hai (the largest and oldest on the island), as well as the Tiger Cages. While not for the faint hearted, the prisons are an important part of the island are preserved as a memorial to those who suffered. 4. Take a boat trip for some island hopping! Hike in the Con Dao National Park Feel like Mowgli from the Jungle Book as you explore the forests of the National Park! Any animal lover will be pleased to know that the Con Dao Islands have the largest population of sea turtles in Vietnam and is home to many protected nesting sites for them.
